Through a Doorway

A peek into the secrets of the Mayan ruins.

I played around with yesterday's shot in photoshop, making the sky lighter so the contrast is more distinct.  It's interesting - for me, the dark on dark was visually more compelling.  When I changed it to dark on dim, it lost its appeal.  But I had a friend look at it and his reaction was the exact opposite.  To each their own!   Regardless of the level of contrast though, there are other things about the silhouette style photo that I still need to learn!  Astrid had a really lovely black and white silhouette up yesterday that gives me a lot to think about in terms of how to do that type of shot more effectively.  I like all the depth in her photo, the detail in the silhouettes, and the different grays and blacks.

I love the experiementing and learning part of photography - it is so much more than technical skills.
